Island Lake Report Sunday Jan 29, 2012

By ILL Trails - Posted on 29 January 2012

Hello from Snow Island Lake Lodge.

It is Sunday afternoon and we continue to get significant snowfall at Island Lake. The Fernie Factor is full on.

We were able to get our grooming cat repaired and are now grooming and setting track again.

We have now been able to get our trail set in Moose Meadow and the Sawdust Pile.

Please beware of wildlife on the trails. The Moose are staying on the road and trails with the deep snow back so be aware and give them appropriate space.

Island Lake Lodge Grooming Update

By ILL Trails - Posted on 25 January 2012

Hello Nordic Skiers,

Conditions have been outstanding at Island Lake. Dave Henderson, our Ace Mechanic, has resolved the issues with our track setter. Unfortunately, we have an axle problem with the grooming cat today. We are waiting for part to arrive in the next day or two and will then be tuning up the trail. I will provide an update once the cat is repaired. Thanks for your understanding.

Island Lake Not Yet Open

By megan lohmann - Posted on 05 December 2011

Please stay tuned! Island Lake Lodge is not yet open for business. All the staff are being trained up this week, and grooming will commence shortly after. Please always be aware that there are snowmobiles and cats (mechanical and animal kind!) on the access road.

Island Lake Grooming - watch for some new groomed areas this winter!

By megan lohmann - Posted on 27 December 2010

Winter 2010/2011 will see some expanded classic ski opportunities from the lower parking lot of Island Lake Lodge all the way up to the lodge. The staff are working on a track-setter that will allow their snowmobilers to set a track on all the side trails off the main road.

Please note that all trails at Island Lake Lodge are shared with other trail users, including snowmobiles and snow cats. Also beware of wildlife: cougars and moose are known to frequent the area. This is their habitat, so be aware of your surroundings and make some noise while you're out.

Island Lake Lodge requests that dogs not be loose running around the Lodge. Please be courteous of guests staying up at the main cabin site.

Lunch is available everyday at the lodge if you would like to ski up and have a meal. Staff prefer advance reservations, but drop-ins will not be turned away! Watch for opportunities to do a day cat ride up to the lodge, a spa and lunch between a beautiful ski around the lodge. New Groomer at Island Lake!

By Steve Kuijt - Posted on 03 January 2009

Lake Trail

Island Lake has a new cross country grooming snowcat! We are still missing the track setter for the classic trail set but the tiller is doing a great job of setting for skate and the track setter should be arriving any day!

The Cross Country Trail from the Island Lake Lodge Parking area (behind the sign) is getting groomed on a regular basis, trails further up the valley still need some more snow to cover the stumps but it should be soon for them as well.
