Trail Conditions – January 24, 2026

Elk Valley Nordic Centre

The trails were groomed and trackset on Friday morning. Watch for some water runoff on the Lizard Lookout and Cedar Loop.

Our groomers aim to start grooming the trails around 7 am.
No dogs, snowshoes, biking or walkers on the trails please.

Fernie Golf Course

The trails were groomed and trackset on Saturday morning. All areas are now open and in good shape.
Level of difficulty: Easy green easy

No dogs, snowshoes or walkers on the golf course please.


Other locations where one can ski in the Fernie area are listed below. Please note that these trails are dog-friendly and operated by other organizations.

Fernie Alpine Resort

The Silk and Manchuria trails were groomed and trackset on Thursday Jan 22. The Scandia trail was also groomed but it has a few bare patches.

Off-leash dogs are now allowed on the trails if they are still under ‘vocal control’.

Fernie Dyke and City Trails

The multi-use dyke trail from the north bridge to the river’s edge past the golf course was groomed on Thursday. Enjoy the views!

It is a multi-use trail for walking, snowshoeing, snow biking and skiing with your dog. Additionally the dyke from the north bridge to the boat launch will be groomed and trackset after a sufficient new snow fall.
Level of difficulty: Easy green easy

Montane

The nordic trails have been groomed on Saturday morning. The section from the parking lot is icy. Ski with care.
Access to the trails is from the trailhead.
