On December 27-28, the Race Team has another ski waxing fundraiser. If you missed the earlier one, it is not too late to get your skis in shape. Getting your skis ready helps our athletes going to the Ski Nationals in Canmore in March.

Greetings Masters Skiers! I apologize for the delay in getting this information out, but the early start to the season caught me a little off guard! I just wanted to, once again, thank everyone who filled out the survey. It has been instrumental in our planning for the season.
We are going to have a Masters group with a variety of offerings this season. You can join as a group member for the very low cost of $30. You must be a member of the Fernie Nordic Society to join.
December 5, 2024 Notice #005 Re: Galloway Lands Winter Construction and Trail Updates
Handshake Holdings has finished the road-building portion of preliminary construction work in accordance with the re-zoning of the Galloway Lands. However, throughout the winter, contractors will continue to be on site thinning trees.
We have been collaborating closely with stakeholders to allow for the re-opening of trails for winter recreation on the Galloway Lands. The Galloway Loop is now available for Nordic grooming. Access from the ski hill to the Galloway Nordic loop will be available from Snow Pines Dr. (Boomerang Way) in the form of a multi-use trail to be groomed by the Fernie Nordic Society. This will be a shared access point providing both recreational and contractor access into the Galloway lands, and as a result trail disruptions may occur from time to time, please respect all signage and keep clear of work areas and any equipment.
Fernie Alpine Resort will continue grooming the Hobbits Trail from the base of the Boomerang Chair to the crossing at Highline Dr. throughout the season. This trail will serve as an additional multi-use access point to the Galloway Lands. As the winter work progresses, we will continue to evaluate opportunities to re-open other trails on the property such as the Boomerang to Hobbits Trail connector and Boom Creek trail.
Please take the time to read the new General Information signage that has been installed at all access points to the property. Additional Directional and Caution signage will be added throughout the season to:
Inform users of active work areas.
Provide clear directions for skiers and walkers.

The Fernie Nordic Society is exploring the possibility of kicking off an Adaptive Nordic Skiing Program this winter for individuals with disabilities!
This program would aim to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to learn and engage in cross-country skiing in a supportive and fun environment! We believe that individuals of every ability should have the opportunity to experience Fernie’s winter through this wonderful sport.
We want to hear from you! Are you interested in participating, volunteering or supporting this initiative? We have a short survey for you. Any and all feedback is welcome, your input is essential in helping us shape a program that fits the needs of our community.

Fernie Alpine Resort
All trails were groomed on Tuesday morning. No new trackset.
Off-leash dogs are now allowed on the trails if they are still under ‘vocal control’. A map and directions to trails are found here The FAR snow report is here
Fernie Dyke and City Trails
The backcountry trail was groomed on Tuesday morning. The dyke is groomed regularly when snow conditions are good.
It is a multi-use trail for walking, snowshoeing, snow biking and skiing with your dog. Additionally the dyke from the north bridge to the boat launch will be groomed and trackset after a sufficient new snow fall. Level of difficulty: Easy
Montane
The nordic trails were groomed on Sunday. The trails are snowcat groomed daily when conditions allow. Access to the trails is from the trailhead.
