These popular events are coming back!

The Community Fun Races event is returning on Saturday morning February 22. Skiers of all ages are in for lots of fun action on the trails of the Elk Valley Nordic Centre. Families and adults compete in a very casual atmosphere in the staging arae and on two ski courses. The activities start around 10 am near the hut of the Nordic Centre. Even a biathlon part is added this year. A few EcoAims ‘rifles’ will be on hand. Test your ski speed and shooting accuracy in the same fun event. Read more about the event on our dedicated webpage. Skiing in costume is a tradition of this event – go wild! Food will be available by donation.

To take part, just register in advance at our Zone4.ca page, It is free for club members and visitors only need a trail pass to participate.

Soon after the Community Fun races, the club will host the 6th Annual Fernie Flying Viking Challenge at the Nordic Centre. It will start at 10 am on Sunday March 9. The event brings local skiers and visitors together to challenge themselves on the 25 km course taking skiers to the trails of the Fernie Alpine Resort by way of the Deer chair lift and back again to the hut. Ski the course twice for the complete 50 km experience. Come to ski or to cheer. Mini-Vikings also have their own shorter courses to show what they are made of. Viking costumes are part of the fun.

Vikings and mini-Vikings register online at Zone4.ca The entry fee is $30 for Vikings (chair lift ticket included) and mini-Vikings’ entry is free. Non FNS club members will need to get a $15 trail pass.

We believe we are only as strong as our community and are excited to give back to your organization. The ‘Cheers to Charity’ Program donates all profits from samples sold in our Tasting Room to local charities who align with our values. We are excited to have you on board as a recipient and hope the funds we raise will greatly help!

Several organizations in Fernie have been selected by this program in the past. Our club was its benificiary as well previously. Thank you to Fernie Brewing for this great program.

It is a great opportunity to bring a friend or visitor to the tasting room and to experience the local flavours at the same time!

Get active with the Masters Group

masters

Greetings Masters Skiers! I apologize for the delay in getting this information out, but the early start to the season caught me a little off guard! I just wanted to, once again, thank everyone who filled out the survey. It has been instrumental in our planning for the season.

We are going to have a Masters group with a variety of offerings this season. You can join as a group member for the very low cost of $30. You must be a member of the Fernie Nordic Society to join.
